Styness’ government is, for all intents and purposes, a theocracy. Social advancement, economic prosperity and pursuit of enlightenment go hand in hand. By doing works along your path of enlightenment, you are rewarded with social standing, monetary compensation, and guarantees of eternal afterlife.

Styness’ religion is based on ancestor worship. When a believer dies, they are judged by the clergy, and if they were a productive member of society, they are put through a ritual that sends the soul into the Empyrean, the afterlife on of intellectual and creative engagement. Meanwhile, their body is subject to Necromancy and turned into a skeleton laborer, although Stynesians don’t associate the skeleton body with the person who once lived.

The religion is run by a hierarchy of priests, from the assistant to the local vicar to the Prelate Nullius.
